With a perfect mix of hardcore and straight up rock, Time in Malta is making a loud statement with their sophomore album, Alone With The Alone. The hardcore side of them could be compared to a middle ground between Stretch Arm Strong and Snapcase, and their rock side is more of a Small Brown Bike sound. However, they have the ability to combine both in some songs yet also only take one path on others. It is reminiscent of how Boysetsfire is able to do the same with their albums, some songs are straight up hard and driving and others are more laid back and more cohesive.
Alone With The Alone is very entertaining as it is filled with lyrics that are born from political and social strife to personal and relationship breakdowns. Their musical style brings a lot to the table and is able to cross genres. Hopefully it will bring in a wider fan base. I am a fan of both the more melodic hardcore of Snapcase and I am also a huge fan of the sound of Small Brown Bike or even Hot Water Music. I found myself sitting right in the middle and I found it very enjoyable.
