Here are some clever little devils who would do well to be properly insured, because their first album may well do BIG damage!! Watch out for broken glass, because these head-breakers are perfectly capable of making themselves guilty of the offence of speeding!! In such a case, no panic!! The victim of the shot caused by the flashing light of the duty tourniquet-twisters can then draw them up, without remorse, an accident report... an amiable one!!! The former vocalist of HOLY DANGER has come a devil of a long way, since his quintet of electric nerves (two of them musicians in vacancy) is a pure liqueur of speed-thrash technicity (it is as juicy as a Gamara to the power of Voivod!!). With their armoured fuselage made of chainsawing decibels, TOURNIQUET may well leave you a few acceleration marks. Their imprints, as much classical (Bach and Chopin) as super heavy-thrash-speedoid, recall a concert of connecting rods, which the 5-octave horn (it is breathtaking!!!) of the mad screamer makes extraordinarily resonant. The incisive lyrics ("Swarming Spirits", "Somnambulism", "Whitewashed Tomb", "The Test For Leprosy",...) spread through the neurones like trails of petrol in flames, while the drummer's blast furnaces fuel them heavily (worth noting some remarkable percussion solos, notably in "Tears Of Korah").
With their splint of sixty-dizard blues, they deliver to your door exquisite impressions of deep musicological qualities, while their bumpers of special effects in fusion cut into your skull a sunroof with a view of Heaven. On top of that, their road sign, represented by their album title ("Stop The Bleeding"), is of the most ricocheting kind, as is their chromic logo.
So, after so much damage in consciences, which sentence to opt for? It is decreed... The tireless ones of the vibratory riff are doomed to tow the hard-eared ones in perpetuity... all the way to Paradise...!!!
Other coverage for this album
Dead Zine 2002Reviewed by NecRoSarXTourniquet's debut album from 1990 ranks in my humble opinion as a thrash metal classic. Fast, blistering, tight metal with intelligent lyrics and heavy classical influences. The CD introduced the classically trained duo of Gary Lenaire and Ted Kirkpatrick on guitars and drums, respectively, and vocalist Guy Ritter, whose astonishing vocal range puts King Diamond to shame. Stop the Bleeding may…
Dead Zine 2002Reviewed by sesspoolwow... the album that started it all... i heard this about the time psycho surgery came out... i loved it so much. this cd is so full of good riffs, chugs and solos that you can't help but be amazed. some of the best guitar work in an album that i've ever heard. compared to psycho surgery, i feel that there are more good songs on this cd per capita. this cd is awesome. buy it. buy it now. the cd…
Dead Zine 2002Reviewed by undeadWith Microscopic View recently being released, I decided that reviewing the early thrash albums of these pioneers was a good idea. For those of you who will become fans because of the new album, this should provide you with the knowledge to get the awesome old albums. Pathogenic and Psycho will soon follow. This album is one of my favorite albums of all-time. It happens to be one of those rare…
HM Magazine #92Reviewed by Doug Van PeltYou've got to rejoice in the justice of it all when a band redeems the rights to their back catalog. Then, when it gets re-released with new packaging and bonus tracks, you can really get excited. As in the case of Tourniquet, who have re-released their classic first three albums on their own (Stop The Bleeding, Psychosurgery, and Pathogenic Ocular Dissonance), and they didn't skimp on the…
Heaven's Metal #25Reviewed by Doug Van PeltPraise the Lord! The hype was right, this band is ultra heavy and rips big-time! Produced by Roger Martinez, this project has hardcore, intricate thrash music; and hardcore lyrics with scripture references printed amidst the songs. Guy Ritter, who fronted Holy Danger way back when, frequently flies into his high-pitched wailing a la King Diamond. The band, which on this recording consists of Guy…Similar sounding releases
