First off lemme just say if you live around Michigan anywhere, you are hereby commanded to send your 4 measly bucks into Ripped Heart Productions for your copy of this tape. This tape represents YOUR local underground music scene and you should support it!
For the rest of you here's the review. 34 tracks on one tape. You'd think that's not too bad, and it's not. What you have here is a large sampling of what the Michigan underground scene has to offer. Being such recording quality varies from track to track. From good to bad.
My main complaint is it's about 85% punk. Most of you are familiar with my tastes in music, and therefore know I'm not into punk at all. Indeed the entire first side (called the "Boxing Side") is all punk. Once I got to side two (called the "Shovel Side") I was finally interested in hearing some of the music that was offered.
Indeed there is some metal and hardcore to be found here on the Shovel Side. If I didn't already own the Feast Eternal CD that track would have been my favorite. Still there was a lot to please me on this side, including the track called Set by Malachi, and The Skull was a very intriguing song by Less Of Me. One Bad Apple gives us a live song, so the production is low but it's a cool track anyway.
To sum up, punk fans rejoice this one is LOADED for you, Michigan residents it's your DUTY to buy this tape, everyone else, well, it's only $4.00 so it's really not that bad of a deal.
