I was a big fan of this band's debut EP, and have been eagerly anticipating this full length. What Cross My Heart delivers is an album that is a bit more unique. Sure there are still the typical "post-hardcore" dynamics that were found on their EP, and definitely a bit of pop. The standout song on this release is track #4, "London Bridge". Probably the most driving and catchy song on this one, and also the song that would have fit in best on their past EP. As far as the slower songs go, track #8, "Angels and Gargoyles" stands out the most. This song has a bit of that Jimmy Eat World feel with the drum machine/real drums keeping the pace. I think at first I was a bit disappointed in this one. But like a sequel to a great movie I may have been expecting a bit too much. The more times I listened to this one the more it began to grow on me. If you liked their EP give this one a try. If you have not yet heard this band and you like the other things that labels like Deep Elm, Polyvinyl and Jade Tree have put out give Cross My Heart a listen.
