This band from Australia brings quality melodic heavy rock with a, ahem, kick. When it comes to melodic hard rock, I haven't heard a new band do it so well in a long, long time. Although much heavier than White Heart has ever been, the vocalist (Martin Walker) sounds similar to Rick Florian and Foreigner's Lou Gramm. This band sounds like they're ready for big audiences. The tune "Your Eyes" could reign on FM radio right now. Crucial Kick leaves no holes in its attack, concentrating all the instruments (vocals included) on the hook at hand. The vocals and progressions in "Disguise" remind me a bit of 20/20 Blind.
The hook-filled chorus in "Faith (Table of Life)" is a memorable moment: "Come and sit at the table/ Come and eat at the table of life."
As far as melodic metal goes, I'd have to say (with journalistic intrepidation) that these guys are near-perfect. It's that good! It doesn't sound contrived. They do it with a relaxed feel, like it was no big deal to make music this good.
