death metal grindcore

Let me tell you this much: If you like any kind of brutal music, you cannot be without this tape. 3 songs of BRUTALITY. You can tell what you are in for once you hear the guitars come in on the first song, "Religious Infamy" which talks about the occult and false religions. Some will call this grindcore, but it is definitely a sound nobody has ever come close to before. This is amazingly fast, and amazingly HEAVY. So is most grind, but this is just so much THICKER than anything I have ever heard. The vocals are not anything at all like the usual "death growl", but are amazingly powerful, while still very deep. It sounds like there are major effects on his voice, but I talked to Kris McCaddon (the vocalist) and he said they didn't use anything, except for pitch shifter in a couple of parts. This is not the average production for a tape either, as it sounds almost like CD quality. The layout is above average as well, with this really insane looking black and white cover.

I really worried about giving this tape a PERFECT rating, because it is only three songs, but when I realized that I literally listen to it several times A DAY, I said "This is getting a 10!". You really should get this tape, but I'm not going to tell you how much you need it. The rating should speak for itself. You will probably never see another 3 song tape EARN a 10 in Dead.

We are in luck, and this is no rumor. Embodyment has signed with the Solid State division of Tooth and Nail. The FULL LENGTH album will be released in early summer, so be prepared for one brutal disc! Still be sure to get the tape though, if you don't already have it. I heard they do some different stuff with the new material (actually I know for sure that they do) but you will have to wait until issue 5 of DEAD with the Embodyment interview in it to find out the details.
