Here's something the Christian music scene has been doing without for far too long. Eternal Decision is playing a style of metal that the secular world has had for a long time, but with a serious Christian attitude. This music is very similar to bands like Corrosion of Conformity, Pantera, Testament or even Metallica (back when they had a good sound that is.)

Now before you get all upset thinking that I'm forgetting about Jesus Freaks, yes they do play this style of Groove Metal, but let's face it, one band of this magnitude just is NOT enough, and hence Eternal Decision is here.

The album in full is a fine effort, and is definitely one I'll be going back to a lot. The songs are a great mix of music, with a varied style from one song to the next. There are some fast songs, but then we get a few slower (no, I don't mean power ballads) songs that really add a wonderful touch to the album. They give the album a full rounded feel, and life of its own. And what's this? Do I actually see guitar solo credits after the songs! YES I believe I do!

Lyrically these boys have it together! If you've been following my reviews thus far, you know that I enjoy bands that are VERY straight forward in the meanings of their songs, and Eternal Decision is certainly that. These guys lay it on the line in EVERY song that they are Christian, and preaching the word of God. The album starts out with a song called "Risen" and the chorus in this song is just incredible:

Risen-I'm Filled with love I have my focus on God and things above Risen-Renewed in mind I am risen-Risen with Christ! God gave me life.

It just doesn't get any simpler than that! These guys write songs that with these types of unashamed lyrics through this entire CD.

Now comes that old value aspect that I like to talk about so much. This CD is 53 minutes long, and has 12 songs, so yeah you get your money's worth on this CD for sure. It doesn't seem like it's that long though, you get so into the music that before you know it the end of the CD has come.

Cling Recordings certainly has found themselves another hot band in Eternal Decision, and they know it. They have a section for sound samples on the Cling page, go check out the sound of Eternal Decision, and you will see that this album rocks. If you are into groove Metal what-so-ever, then you are an idiot if you don't buy this CD, you get more than your $12 worth out of this one.

The Phantom Tollbooth 1997Reviewed by Josh SpencerThis is probably the best Christian power/thrash metal out there right now. Great guitar tone. The vocals sometimes sound like Metallica and other times like a more subdued Pantera. The music is highly influenced by Master of Puppets/And Justice For All-era Metallica. In fact, they've achieved that sound better than any other band I've heard. I think every Christian metal fan would almost…
