if you were as sad as i was about the break-up of butterfly joe after only one album, this may be comforting. as the title suggests, it's a collection of 4-track recordings from 1984 to 1997, almost totally performed by mr talcum (who you may know from the dead milkmen, low budgets, butterfly joe, the town managers, or even touch me zoo). it's weird, silly, funny, confusing, and even a little sad at times (well, mostly on "another time"). many of the songs are like more minimally arranged butterfly joe songs, and just about all of them are super catchy and really well written. quite possibly the neatest thing reviewed in this issue!
