You probably already know whether or not you're going to be buying this CD without me even reviewing it, but that's not going to stop me. Up until recently with the sudden ascension of P.O.D., MxPx has been the most publicly recognizable face of the Christian "underground," touring as a part of the Van's Warped Tour the past few summers, and doing tours with the likes of the Get Up Kids, Bad Religion, and collection of other great bands, so if you don't know who they are yet, you need to get with the program.
From the first song, "My Life Story," all the way through "Misplaced Memories," the album delivers punk rock anthems that will stick in your head, that you'll find yourself humming at the oddest of times. Past fans will not be disappointed by this album. I sense a little more pure rock 'n' roll influence than in the past, but they sound just like they've sounded since Life In General. I think we'd all be disappointed if they sounded much different though. Gone are any angry references anyone might've detected on Slowly Going the Way of the Buffalo, with lyrical content focusing more on story telling, growing up, standing up for what you believe in, and everything else we know and love MxPx for. Though Life in General is still my favorite MxPx album, this CD is a welcome addition to my collection, and will find itself spinning often enough in the future.
