Still Breathing is relatively new band, having been around for about a year. This is their debut full length ("September") and is being released on Solid State Records.
Still Breathing plays a progressive hardcore style that incorporates many different influences. While there is a metal edge to things, they fail to fall slave to the metal-core monster and instead churn out a sound that is very diverse and balanced. The first thing that may jump out at you is the female vocals. Don't think that this makes them weak or takes away the edge, because this girl can sing (she sounds tougher than I ever could). What I like the most is that Still Breathing has a good sound that doesn't merely repeat everything that they've heard. There's good song writing and solid production work. My favorite song is "With Hateful Pride," which really represents what the band is capable of. Because these guys (and girl) are new on the block, it's gonna take them awhile to get the attention they should have, but I think they have the potential to take off.

Still Breathing brings to mind the sheer brutality of Living Sacrifice, Soul Embraced, or Sepultura with a force that hits you full in the teeth, not more than two seconds into the first track. To those who doubt whether a female vocalist fits into the metal scene, just one spin of this album will allay…Similar sounding releases
