This is Juliana's sophomore release, and quite the follow-up to their amazing, and critically acclaimed release, "Understand This Is A Dream." I've been looking forward to hearing this album with child-like anticipation ever since I heard "To The Tune of 5000 Screaming Children," a few months ago. That was one of the most energetic and emotionally charged songs I had heard from them since their first album, and I couldn't wait any longer to hear their new material. To be blatantly honest, "Emotion Is Dead" had to grow on me, and at first glance, it seemed like Juliana was dead. But my faith in them was regained as I gave it a closer examination. This album isn't toned down as much as their first album was. There are some more energy charged songs on this disc, adding a nice contrast to the beautiful and harmonious songs that surround them. Songs like "...5000 Screaming Children" and "Understand The Dream Is Over" are driving melodic rock songs, that could make you wonder why they don't go for this sound throughout the entire album. But when you hear songs like "This Is Your Life" and "Into The Dark" your eyes are opened to a new light, filled with emotion, and that could fill your eyes with tears. Definitely give this album a shot. Let the songs grow on you. Clear your mind and let the lyrics take hold of your emotions.
