Wow. Now this is what I call a fantastic album. To talk about this album and not make some comparison to Type O Negative would be impossible but at the same time it seems unfair. The band really doesn't have a Type O sound other than Robert Baum's vocal approach and inflection is similar. However being as about half the vocals are handled by Ada (a female vocalist) this has little impact. Never the less being as Type O is the biggie in the Gothic Metal realm, it just seems inevitable to mention them.

For the most part this is dark gothic metal true to form with the guitars and the keys both laying thick doomy passages to travel down and neither taking any kind of center stage. You don't focus on one aspect here, it's the overall music that makes this so good. Then along comes track 7. Reflection (Part 2). This is an instrumental track which features the keys coming in nice and slow creating the dark and somber mood. Then out of nowhere the guitar rips your heart out in a sorrow filled solo piece. This track is over 4 minutes of music that you find yourself losing yourself in.

Undish is a polish band and this album came out on Massacre Records (a secular label) back in 1997 so it's been around, and has garnered quite a bit of success already. The lyrics are all in English however. The lyrics are not printed but most of it you can easily understand, and this is a Christian band no question. The song 'I Believe' (which is track 2) sets the stage for the thoughts of this band. Track 5 'Someone' furthers this with lyrics like:

Someone told me Jesus died on the cross
    He suffered for to live

I've listened to a lot of goth CDs, some good, some not so good. Undish offers a variety within one 8 track CD. With male and female vocals, and the male vocals traversing from typical throaty, deep singing to choppy harsher almost thrash vocals, a bass player who creates some really nice underlying parts and guitars that pull everything together, this is something not to be missed. A must for those who dig Saviour Machine and Wedding Party type of music, although in all honesty I listen to this CD more than any of those two bands.
