When Doug handed me this tape to review, Charles, a member of the staff, asked him, "How's he gonna review it?" I didn't quite understand what he meant until I listened to it. Everything on this tape is in Spanish. The title, the lyrics--even the vocals. Well, since I can't understand Spanish, I'll have to review Vox Dei on musical merit alone. There's only one soft number on this tape, "Quiero Mas De Ti," the rest of the songs on "Torre Fuerte" are high quality commercial metal. Touches of Def Leppard and Eddie Van Halen guitar leads dominate this 8-song, very nicely packaged tape. If you can understand Spanish, this tape will be right up your alley. If you can't, get this tape anyway. Vox Dei is a refreshing example of how metal can cross all boundaries.
