The first two things I noticed about this cd are that all the lyrics are in Portuguese and they have a female drummer.

First the lyrics. Not since Horde have I heard an album this focused on evil being bad. As the band name and album title go (I'm assuming Demonocido translates roughly into "killing demons" or some such), so goes the entire album. Antidemon massacres Satan, hate, and violence, they cast out demons (with amazing efficiency, I might add), and flat out declare war on hell. How could anybody mistake lyrics like "Demonios atados, impedidos de agir! O seu tempo terminou, pelo sangue de Jesus! Jesus Cristo!"? Or, just in case the minions of evil aren't multilingual, they translate to English "Demons are in chains, unable of acting. Their time has finished by Jesus blood. Jesus Christ!" Anyway, the Portuguese vocals actually do seem to have a cool flow to them that I don't hear in other bands, whether it's the language or the vocalist's phrasing could probably be debated.

As for the drummer, her name's Elke, and she plays the drums. They don't stand out (except for her being a female and all), but they're ok.

Anyway, that leaves the music as the thing that didn't stand out here. Antidemon can churn out a cool slow groove when they want to, but most of this cd sounds to me like a death band covering Minor Threat songs. Power chords on top of power chords on top of truly punk-esque riffing. "Massacre" particularly reminds me of Sepultura's "Policia", if you're familiar with that. What isn't the death-punk is mostly palm muted E-string stuff that could be castoffs from Chaos A.D. era Sepultura stuff. Regardless, the punkish leanings do give the album a unique "fun-death!" feel that's kind of cool, but grows weary well before I reach track 27.

HM Magazine #83Reviewed by Doug Van PeltI wonder how these guys feel about demons? Hmmm... This tight Brazilian trio slams out an incredible 27 songs here! The band blasts away at hyper-sonic speeds, rivaling some of the better black metal I've heard, but the vocals take a definite low-end grindy/deathy growl. Lyrically, they take a strong stance, calling forth blessings from God, and offering warfare prayers to bind the enemy. This is…Dead Zine 1999Reviewed by sesspoolThis Brazilian death metal band takes you back to the roots of modern death metal and even included some tracks taking you all the way back to original death metal in its true punky form. The first thing to note in this album is the way the music is mixed... don't worry, that emotional and dark intro won't last long and you can get to your mediocre death metal in a moment. All right, the first…Dead Zine 1999Reviewed by D_ListerNow just because everyone (including the band) has been calling this band a death/grind act, don't go expecting the typical grindcore sound here. Yes at times they have a raw punkish/death feel to the music, but when they do come into what I would guess people are labeling the grind songs the intensity level is not quite right. I'm sure people feel the need to attach 'grind' to it also because…
