Every once in a while a CD just totally blows me away and I listen to it just about everyday for a few months, while it quickly becomes one of my favorite albums of all-time. Now I know this new Farside CD has not been out too long, but I can honestly say its on its way to becoming one of my favorite albums of all-time. This CD is just so good. This is not a band you can just put in a box and say, "hey these guys are punk", or "these guys are emo". These guys are a band that write great songs with intelligent lyrics, great melodies, and a diverse style that incorporates all different types of music. In terms of songs, "I Hope You're Unhappy" is so good. Its kind of a negative song about an ex-girlfriend, but the song itself is great.. Everything from the lyrics to the pop ballad feel of the song are what it make it great. It just really cuts to the heart of anyone who has ever gone through a break-up. "I don't want you to cry anymore than I do just at least as much. I know your children will be beautiful, but I don't want to know that they exist at all." If you're looking for great punk songs then you will dig the opening track "Better Than Crying", "Statues of Snow", "The Fashionable Rebellion", "Teach Me How To Die", and the most "punk" song in my opinion on the entire album "Bled". The "Slowdance" is another great song, sort of a love ballad feel to it, but it still has that Farside edge. Beings this CD is rather diverse in style from song to song its kind of hard to give it a very descriptive overall review, besides just saying its a great CD, with incredible songwriting. If you like punk, emo, pop, or just great rock music, then I think you will find something you like on this new Farside CD. This is definitely going to be one of my top albums of the year.

This disc goes from one stylistic extreme to the next. I can't get a grasp on what these guys are trying to be. It's not badly done, just not focused. If you're a fan of this group, I'm sure you'll understand why they're growling into the mic one minute and sounding like the Goo Goo Dolls the next. I'm sure you'll even enjoy it. I guess.
