you know, for many years i didn't care at all about this band. my friend jeff was really into them, but i was fairly indifferent. at some point in the late 90s i saw them and was pretty impressed, but still never bothered to get any of their records. then a couple years ago a certain friend played them for me and i liked them pretty well. since then i've acquired a good many of their records and enjoy them. they're silly in that distinctly british way, but also really good at writing catchy songs (many of which aren't very silly at all). the first disc here is a selection of their alleged best songs, most of which i already had. the second disc, however, is comprised of compilation tracks, b-sides, a few unreleased songs, and other "rarities". "dow dow boof boof" sounds like that one nirvana song. there are several goofy covers ("i will survive", "i think we're alone now", "i try", "hokey cokey"), and lots of good originals i'd not heard before. this is well worth getting for the second disc, and it's priced like a single disc, so there's nothing lost if you already have all of the albums. plus you get liner notes from sean of wat tyler!
