On The Rise plays New York styled hardcore that brings to mind a more melodic version of Sick of It All or even Agnostic Front (who bassist Mike Gallo moonlights for). The music is straight ahead old school hardcore with no frills and no further trickery. While not as brutal in their approach as other bands in their neck of the woods (re: Madball), they still pull off a sound that's catchy and true to the style that their peer bands are known for.
All of the elements are here - a solid rhythm section and well placed sing along parts, all of which make for a good time at any local show (you know...before all that kung fu dancing stuff came along). A solid record that's more refreshing in that it's a sound that's not necessarily dated and archaic - but true to where things came from in the first place.
