Panic Attack is a brand new four piece old school hardcore band from eastern Pennsylvania. Although they are a new band their members have been around the hardcore scene for a while. Jamie (guitar) and Andy (vocals) were once members of the popular Pennsylvania hardcore band Rancor. Demo 2k2 is Panic Attack's first release and they have a 7" in the making that will be put out on Looking Back Records in a few months. Although the band's music isn't anything terribly original they do breathe new life into an area of Pennsylvania that has been starved for good hardcore. They have established a fan base very quickly and have caught the ears of some up and rising hardcore bands and labels so they have to be doing something right.
Even though this is only a demo, the recording is actually very good. It was recorded and mixed very well. The vocals are easy to hear and the drums don't drown everything out which are two very common problems with hardcore demo's. As far as the music is concerned, it is classic sounding hardcore. Short and to the point with very solid breakdowns. Very moshable music. Although the lyrics are lacking somewhat, they fit well with the music.
This demo is available on the Panic Attack web site (http://listen.to/panicattack) or at their shows. Although it won't be the best record you will hear all year, it is still a very attractive record to add to your collection if you are a hardcore fan.
