Back when Orange County, California garage bands began making their own brand of punk a little over a decade ago, they were basically making raw pop music. That's a good definition of what we've got here. Plank Eye isn't using the same formula for their brand of pop music, but they're making it raw and edgy while still maintaining a hook and a melody. This is evidenced in the staccato riffing in "Bold," as well as the bass intro to "Step Away," and the slapping at the start of "Revolution," while tracks like "Free Me" sound like a throwback to those old Orange Co. days.
Cool, groovy stuff. Low on intensity, high on jangly six-string sounds.
