Point Of Grace is poised to continue their streak of radio and award successes with their third project, Life, Love, And Other Mysteries. What is the driving force behind their rise to fame? Certainly their vocal prowess must be a factor in the success this quartet has already experienced. Another major contributing factor would have to be the blending of their rich, full, harmonizing voices. However, I believe that the secret of their success can be found in their convictions and the verbalization of their faith-in their music and through their individual witness.
My favorite track on this project is the lighthearted, musical romp-"Sing A Song." This upbeat, fun song showcases the vocal talents and amazing tonal range of Point Of Grace. This song will probably bring a smile to many listeners' faces. Perhaps it's the simplicity of the message-sung with a childlike joy that reminds me of the words of Christ: "I tell you the truth, anyone who will not receive the kingdom of God like a little child will never enter it."
Contrast the lighthearted "Sing A Song" to "God Forbid" and you find the contemplative, spiritual depth of Point Of Grace. The lyrics say it best:
God forbid, that I find You so familiar That I think of You as less than who You are God forbid, that I should speak of You at all Without a humble reverence in my heart God forbid Lord, I often talk about Your love and mercy How it seems to me Your goodness has no end It frightens me to think that I could take You for granted Though You're closer than a brother You're more than just my friend.
Life, Love, And Other Mysteries offers a diversity of songs, and is sure to appeal to a very large segment of the Christian music market, with a sound that could allow some possible overflow into the vast market of secular music, too.
