I'm kind of impressed with Tulsa, Oklahoma's own Agony Scene. They have taken my perspective of the metal genre to a whole new level. I never thought it would be this possible to put out an album this bad until I listened to The Agony Scene debut album on Solid State Records. I have never turned off an album after only listening to it for only a few seconds. Even if I listen to an album and it is really horrible, I can usually get a good laugh out of it but there is nothing to laugh about here. The songs get lumped together in a chaotic mess that can't be put together. They also made a huge mistake by making a mess of one of the greatest rock songs of all time by covering "Paint It Black" by The Rolling Stones.

The Agony Scene is a cross between Zao and Cradle of Filth that should have never been made. With attempts at being morbid or dark, they fall terribly short of being intimidating or even taken seriously. It's generic and it has all been done before. They would fit perfectly on the Ozzfest bill and would probably make a huge mark there but when it comes to making any impression on me, they are just another band to lump into the current trend status quo. Generic and overall just plain boring. They don't bring anything new to offer. It's just another tooth & nail/solid state quick cash deal.

The recording quality of this album is very poor as well. I honestly think that if the album had a much fuller sound that it would make a better impression on me but probably not all that much. Save your money and your ears.
